Hi all,
I have a 57 plate 1.2 polo. The engine was stalled today in 2nd gear going downhill and the brakes didn't work at all. When the engine is on the brakes are fine. So I tried rolling down a slight incline engine not on in neutral and no brakes pedal rock hard and cant even pump it.
Any ideas appreciated
Pat

Re: Brake Issue
When the engine is not running, you will only get one or two good brake applications until the accumulated vacuum in the brake servo has been used up.
It is always a good idea to experiment with the brakes on a "new to you" car with the engine turned off so that you are ready for how poor they are without the brake boosting that the servo provides.
I think that if you try this again, and press a lot harder on the brake pedal, they will still work "enough".
