car won't turn over when hot!!!!

Hi guys new to the forum and just bought this 1991 polo coupe 1.0 , test drove before I bought it and everything seemed fine, got it home and turned it off, straight away tried to start it again to show the gf a couple things and it wouldn't turn over, I heard the fuel pump priming and im pretty sure I heard the ignition switch click but it wouldn't turn over!!!!
Just been out to try again after about 2 hours cool down and she fired straight up, help!!!!!!!
