Polo 6C 3 cly diesel autolights retrofit

Post by Robbo770 »

So I want to change the mirror to auto dimming, light sensor / rain sensor also fitting same time.

I just got a genuine vw light switch with auto function.

Put in today and with my 6C lights being bcm controlled due to the smaller red wiring connection on the light switch unit, the bcm recognised the auto switch and due to no sight sensor signal as not fitted yet, it worked an brings on the headlights as it must default to lights on if no signal telling it is daylight.

So I think it will be a quite fit for the light Sensor and have it working completely.

Waiting on a new windscreen mirror for the dimming mirror to allow it to be fitted.

But will post as I progress slowly through the upgrade to help others follow it.

So progress wiring delivery, windscreen mount plate for dimming mirror arrived, prep time!

So Light / rain sensor wiring plugs in to sensor, sensor correctly clips into mount plate.

Bad bit wiring for dimming mirror plug wrong so looking for help to secure new plug both halves with full set of pins for 5 wiring connections. (Anyone able to help? Even pulled from smashed car and smashed mirror would be fine.)

Got a dimming 6c mirror but wanting to fit an upgrade which has built in dimming and homelink so the strip down began

Strip down polo mirror as need the mounting knuckle for new mirror

Then strip new mirror to fit the larger bore polo knuckle, bit of Dremeling, and tweeting and knuckle fitted

But now need new plug and pins and the correct polo car roof loom, hope someone can help!

Think some black vinyl cut to shape for the windscreen blackout edge for the light sensor, unless anyone has a better solution?

Cheers Rob
