My Polo 6R Build Thread.

Post by Phil-polo6R »

(sorry for picture size)

Hi guys, I don’t post on this forum much, I read it quite a lot though
This is the first day I got the car it’s a Flash Red Polo 1.2S 5door so basically it’s the lowest model available, my plans for the car were to basically make it into the top model by adding everything, plus giving it a bit of my own look.
Image

The fist thing I had to do was get some alloys sorted, I bought a set of Skoda Fabia VRS alloys gave them a quick referb and put then on.
Image

After I had rid of them awful wheel trims I decided to color code the door handles and mirrors in red, for me it totally changed the look of the car on the side. Now for the front end, I purchased the chrome grilles and fog lights, which are off the SEL model, so now bar from the wheels, my car looked like a top model polo.
Image

I then had the rear windows tinted and had a black vinyl roof put on it. (bad pic sorry)
Image

Private plate was bought and well I as putting it on I decided to paint the front badge matte black, and fit HID xenons, as the normal lights were s**t.
Image

Found a RCD300 Radio on Ebay so put that in, very easy process just remove the plastic cover, four screws and its off.
Image

Now for the fun bits 

I got some eibach 30mm lowering springs, while fitting them I painted the front calipers red, to give it a ''Gti look''.
Image

I also came across some 17’’ Genuine boavista alloys, and had to buy them
This is the car after lowering.
Personally the drop isn’t the best (i want coils  ), but the handling is great and the ride is still superb.
Image

Few little tweeks, taken the rear wiper arm of and plugged the hole. (you can see more of the black roof here)
Image

this is how the car looks at the moment :)
Image

Plans for the car.
Coilovers
Gti steering wheel
Gti rear bumper
Re-furb alloys
And try and find a gti interior hopfully(no chance though  )

Thanks for reading guys, if you would like to know how i did any of the following im happly to help, feedback welcome :)

Car looks awesome, great transformation from the original. I bet it's not been cheap though :) Your lucky to stumble across those Boavista's, they're quite hard wheels to pick up unless they're direct from VW :)

Also, what colour do you plan to refurb the Boavistas? If you plan on black theres a few images below. VW Dealers will refurbish them in 'Diamond Black' from the VW pallet for £300. :)

Thanks for the positive comments lads!
@AJ_7 - I came across the wheels on another forum, best things I've bought it totally finished it off, I'm thinking of getting the refurb done soon, most likely in a gun metal grey or diamond black like yours mate! they look really good.

just to put it out there, the skoda VRS wheels are for sale with nearly new bridgestones for 300ono they are ready for refurb so I could get them done in any colour and the wheels will be mint!

I Like the black front VW emblem. May well do this with my Polo when it arrives. I have some 3M black vinyl already. :)

Oh and I'd be tempted to go with black alloys on a red car too to keep the theme going that you've already started 8)

thanks mate, and yeah my badge was matte but I've re-painted gloss to go with the roof, to remove the badge turn to the right while pulling slightly and it unclips from the grille, I'm soon to do the rear badge when I have some free time it's held in by three bolts behind it (very easy to remove).

Either will look amazing, Diamond Black or Anthracite if your planning on getting them done by VW. I can't decide between the two colours myself. Definatley getting them refurbed as soon I get some kerbing. :)

@strachs

I bought a HID xenon kit and fitted it myself, it's really simple 6 bolts on top of your headlight then pull the headlight forward it will come off it's lugs, the kit I ordered it was a H4 CAMBUS PRO 6000k kit, in that you get two bulbs andtwo balasts converters. it's important you order cambus pro or the lights will flicker and your bulb warning light will appear. I'm not 100% sure if they are legal, but tbh ive never looked into it, I've had mine 6 months and had no problems with them.

Ah, the same as the MKV Golf then 8) I had Black carbon fibre front and rear badges on the ED30 and fitted them myself, so know what you mean about fitments :) The rear interior trim was a bit of a bugg3r to get back on after fitting the rear badge and housing though - all good fun in the name of modding
