mfsw on polo 6r

Post by Paride89 »

Hello,

I didn’t found any information about, I would ask you which multifunction steering wheel I can retrofit in my polo 6r, scirocco’s mfsw are quite rare and I’m swapping my instrument cluster with a Toledo MFA+ IC so instead of swap the stalks I would prefer to change the steering wheel which is also almost destroyed.

Thank you in advance

All the best

I think you could fit any Golf 6 wheel if you like. Otherwise, the Scirocco 1K8 or Transporter T6 wheel will fit and I think the Golf 7 wheel should work as well. But for the latter three, you'd need a new BCM to support button background illumination.

Thank you, swapping the BCM do I need to add some new wires except the Lin, + and - to the mfsw?

Yes anyway you'll need to add a power and LIN wire, if your car doesn't have a mfsw now

Great, there’s the possibility to add the mfa switches in the polo6r steering wheel with the radio buttons?

No you'll need to replace the wheel to get mfa+ buttons anyway.

Sure, what I meant is if is possible to retrofit the mfa display control in a steering wheel with only the radio controller.

Anyway I was looking in the internet for a steering wheel and I found 2 types: one is with the module in the middle in which are plugged the 2 cables coming from the switches and an other one without this module and the two switches modules connected with their self.
Which one will work in the polo 6r?

I understood your question as "can I fit just the RHS buttons to a mfsw from a 6r with just the LHS buttons". The answer is no.

Could you please post a link to the wheels you found?

I see you have the Australian spec wheel on the bottom picture.
Do you maybe have the coding of the old wheel? For the button backlights you need to replace your bcm.

A tool like vcds would be helpful

Possible causes of symptoms in order of importance:
- Inappropriate airbag.
- Inappropriate airbag wiring.
- Inappropriate buttons.
- Coding.
- Year of BCM.

For the buttons backlight to work on f.e. mk7 steering wheels, it is known you need a newer bcm.

How to determine if your bcm is new enough?
The SW version? Or simply the partnr?
