BlueGT spongy brakes

In the last week I’ve noticed my brakes feel more spongy and there is more pedal travel. They were always quite positive before, but they’re definitely mushier now.

It’s been to a mechanic, and the pads and ducks are absolutely fine and there’s nothing obviously wrong and no ABS fault codes. He test drove it did some emergency stops, and it functions normally in that respect.

Does anyone know what could be causing the change in brake pedal feel, though...?
