Apple CarPlay/Android Auto Solution

Post by Shappers01 »

Although my car was an early 2016 model, I was not able to get Apple CarPlay in my car as I had the small screen media player. I’ve been browsing for solutions for a while but really did not want to replace my standard head unit or play around with my external amplifier solution.

Finally I happened across this external solution which works perfectly. It has a bright high resolution screen. I have it connected with an aux cable but you could also connect it by fm signal.

You can’t tell from the picture but I can just about see the top row of buttons from my normal sitting position.

I used 2 Brodit mounts to hold it very firmly at the perfect angle. I used model numbers: 854382 (LHD), 215058.

The screen came from AliExpress > € 274,86 20% Off | 7" Touch Screen Car Portable Wireless Apple CarPlay Wired Android Auto Multimedia Bluetooth Navigation 1 Din 2 Din Stereo System

Hope this helps someone, I’m very satisfied with it.

Looks nice, and the quality of the screens looks good to. But i find it's a little expensive.
My 2011 6r doesn't come with a double din head unit. Just a single din radio slot and some storage. So im looking for a cheap android auto solution.

What is the part number for the OEM Head unit with car play for the 6C? I'd also like to upgrade, but I don't want to go after market.

There is this one: https://www.pioneer-car.eu/eur/products ... o1-pl2-val
It's quite expensive so I haven't decided yet if I think it's worth the money.
