I may be losing my mind so please bare with me
I've always been a bit annoyed about how slow the engine revs and how hard(at least for me) is to get going from a stand still so I just decided to make this weird post.
Sometimes the engine takes a LONG time to rev. I would floor the accelerator and it would literally take over a second for the engine to do anything, but sometimes(mostly when the engine is cold) it's all fine. The smallest throttle inputs are being registered and the engine revs really nice and quick and the clutch engagement is ON POINT.
I honestly don't know what could possibly cause this. When getting a scan with my buddy's VCDS cable thingy there are no errors, after I get going the car drives fine.
Engine response question.

Re: Engine response question.
I think turbo actuator, or a clogged egr. If everything else is good.
Does your car smell on oil or diesel?

Re: Engine response question.
Ok, I am going to revive this old thread to explain how I finally fixed the problem
The problem came from the gas pedal. More specifically the gas pedal position sensor that was not calibrated correctly.
I randomly stumbled upon a youtube video showing a guy calibrating his sensor and he did the following:
Hook up a vcds(or anything similar) to the car.
Read the voltage coming of the accelerator pedal sensor. For me when it was not pressed it was about 0.7V.
Start pressing the pedal until the engine speed starts to raise(you can also watch the engine speed value with vcds) and note the voltage at which this happens.(for me it was 0.92V)
Now you can loosen the 3 screws on the side of the pedal and move the sensor until you get to that value and tighten the screws back. Now you have instant response when pressing the pedal.
My problems came from the fact that the first 1-1.5cm of pedal travel the engine would not register anything so it would feel very odd when trying to set off from a stand still.
You can watch the video for a clearer image:

Re: Engine response question.
Pretty cool find, i will do this to my car also. I never liked the feel of the accelerator pedal it felt like you have to press it way to much before anything happens

Re: Engine response question.
Well on my CAYB the pedal is Hella and not Bosch. The bolt pattern looks a bit different and it uses star and Philips screws.
My default voltage is 0.728V and the default rpms are ~780. They start to grow on .950V
@iichel what is you take on this ?

Re: Engine response question.
Very interesting. I'm used to the gas pedal not responding 'instantaneous' but it's pretty smart to mechanically adjust the sensor/pedal interface.

Re: Engine response question.
You can see on the bottom right of the picture that the bolts are designed to be loosened and have the sensor adjusted by the elongated hole the screw is in.
