LOL. I was thinking the same actually. It's one of those little all consuming jobs that will just take you down a rabbit hole. I'd be thinking either find a second hand unit, or a cheap knackered unit that you can scavenge for parts.

just out of interest did the unit 100% work before the connector was damaged?

Justnuse ribbon cable and any 2 piece male female connector with 60 pins. Extend the connections from the board with ribbon cable on noth boards. On end of ribbon cables place NEW male and female connector. It will all work.
