Timing belt or chain?

Post by Pophughes »

My car is a 2012 1.2 blue motion and I am struggling to see if it has a timing belt or chain.

Can anyone help please?

Thanks

It may help members answer your question if you could state the engine code and if petrol or diesel ?

The TDI has a belt and the TSI has a chain I believe

Where would I find the engine code please?

And it’s diesel so guessing it’s a belt then. Looks like I’m forking out to get it changed then 🥲
Thanks

Service book or in the boot on the ID sticker

TDI belt replacement should be at 80K or every 4yrs I believe,so look in the service records it should have had at least 2 by now?

I can’t find anything to say that it’s ever been done.
I’ve had the car 2 years now so just going to get it done.
Rather be safe than sorry :(
