Soggy Sound proofing on bulkhead

Post by jimbo_006 »

Newbie here im hoping someone can advise.

I have a 2015 1.2tsi SEL Polo and when I had my head under the bonnet the other day I noticed small pool of fluid on a flat section of the chassis just behind the drive shaft and just below the bulk head, this was on the passenger side of the car I also noticed the bottom of the sound proofing attached to the bulk head was very soggy and wet.

Fluid is not oily and I suspect its water as when I dipped my fingers in it, smelt it even tasted it I smelt of nothing/tasted of nothing. No warning lights on the dash and all fluids appear topped up and ok.

See the photo attached, for what I'm talking about, as you can see the sound proofing near the bottom is a darker colour than it it higher up on the bulk head.

Any ideas what it could be? I have my suspicions what it might be but wanted to see if others have had this before.

I've not had the car long either.

Thank you to anyone who can help me with this.
