Evening - new member desperate for some advice and guidance on an increasingly frustrating problem with the heater/air-con blower.
The car is fantastic, was bought in May this year for my son, runs really well and a cracking little engine. However, we'd had the car around 8 weeks when we noticed the air con/blower only started up when switch was in position 3, and increased to position 4. It slows down when returned to position 3 from 4, and still works when turning down to position 2 (but at same speed as pos 3) and then turns off again in position 1. No issues with the temperature control. It is manual air conditioning control.
It still has a short period of warranty on it and to date we've:
1) Changed the blower resistor pack - glovebox out etc - this burned out again shortly after replacing.
2) Today it has had the resistor and blower motor/fan replaced under the warranty - resistor has burned out again around 20 mins after leaving the garage (could smell it through the vents, and the blower is back to only working as described above).
By deduction, is it now likely to be the actual switch unit that is likely to be faulty and would you recommend replacing it, or having the garage do a proper diagnostic test on it first? In my village, there is a VW/AUDI specialist but they aren't an approved garage under the limited warranty. Part of me would be happy to have a VW specialist do the work, but interested to see if any forum members have experienced anything similar and how it was solved.
Thank you for any feedback, safe driving.

Re: 2016 (65plate) 1.2 TSI Heater Blower Problem
It sounds like the VW garage replaced what normally causes that issue, ie the resistor pack, and they logically replaced the motor when that genuine new resistor pack again failed quickly, if the fan motor is drawing too much current it will be giving the resistor pack a hard time and so it would fail quickly.
As to if your local VW Indie now has better knowledge about this, I can't say, though it sounds like if getting this repaired properly is still FOC, I'd be putting up with the inconvenience and continuing to use the VW garage as if that car was still under warranty when they started this repair, they will need to complete it even out of warranty, to your satisfaction, so far they have not completed that repair.
