New fuses and connections for the installation of 8IU LED headlights.

New fuses

Previous info  viewtopic.php?p=577138#p577138

Installing the new fuse holder (4 fuses) is easy but a very hard task. :)
- To insert the fuse holder into the parking unit bracket a pliers are required.
Image
Note: I have quite a bit of strength in my hands 🐒, but it was impossible for me to insert the fuse holder without removing the parking unit bracket.

erWin indicates a procedure to remove and install the bracket for the parking unit, but it is a crap procedure because the plastics on the bracket tabs are of very, very, very poor quality. It is very easy to break the plastic tabs.
Image

Image
Note: At this point I want to emphasize that currently the manufacturing quality of plastics has notably worsened (6R 2013 vs G7.5 2019), the ones used in the 6R are of better quality.

To avoid breaking the plastic tabs, it is best to remove the BCM, press lightly on the plastic tabs, and pull down the parking unit bracket. Easy.

With the help of the pliers the new fuse holder is inserted little by little and kindly into the parking unit bracket. Easy.
Image
Note: I could have saved myself this explanation. 🤪

Once all the harnesses of this installation reach the TIUL coupling point, I proceed to connect the wires.

It will take some time for a new update of this installation, I have yet to receive some parts that I requested, ... between the delays due to the pandemic, the Christmas holidays, the adverse weather conditions where I live and other PRO circumstances there will be delays.

Slow but safe. We endure. We resist!

I find it very rare that this bracket has 9 dedicated places to hold the parking unit, 4 relay holders or fuse holders and another 4 for connectors or other devices and is finally held by a system that is based on two such weak tabs. In my humble opinion, a very elaborate bracket but with a weak clamping system.

I suppose it is because it is made of plastic and a new one does not imply a high cost, ... I can think of hundreds of ways to fasten it much better or repair it if necessary, however, I bought a new one. :|

Image

Finally 👉, inserting or removing the single relay holder or the 2-fuse holder is as it should be, a very easy task and will not require removing the bracket for the parking unit, so I recommend buying this type of holder/s for your retrofits.

Heeelp! . Original wiring for HELIX sound system. CHW051419B

As some of you know, I installed the Helix sound system in my 6R:
- viewtopic.php?p=538499#p538499
- viewtopic.php?p=538553#p538553
- viewtopic.php?p=540220#p540220

Now I found this programmer on eBay:
Image
I bought it, because I want to test the Helix sound system on my wife's Golf 7.5.

 https://www.volkswagen-zubehoer.de/de/p ... ystem.html
Image

So I only need to install the wiring for the sound system in the Golf to be able to use the subwoofer and amplifier in both cars:

CHW051419B

Someone would be so kind to help me find this wiring or provide it to me before I decide to make it myself.

Please contact me by private message if you want to make me an offer.

Thanks in advance.

---
Edit

Your help is no longer necessary, thanks, I have already bought all the parts (less than 50 euros) and I have all the info to make this wiring myself.

Test after the wiring installation at the TIUL coupling point.

Taking a walk to have all the sensors recalibrated due to the battery disconnection, I check with the VCDS.

- The twisted wires are to avoid possible interference in the "unamplified" audio output signals from the main unit, they avoid interference due to magnetic field of the power wires that go in the harness itself, if posssible chose a different location for supply wires.
- The amplified audio output signals are not affected by these possible interferences...
- When installing the harness in the car, avoid as much as possible that the audio signal wires are close to any device or power wires.

Hello Ciclo

First I want to congratulate you for the work you do in your wife's car.
Second, I follow your topic religiously, it is a source of inspiration.
In the last few days to see and read your posts about the led headlights I had some doubts or misunderstood :(
If you can help me understand, thank you.
From what I saw in the photos of the optics, they only have pins 1,2, 5, 6, 7, 11. But when you prepared the new cables, you have placed cables for pins 4 and 6, did anything escape me?
Thank you, and continue with the fantastic work.

Hi safm, thanks for your comments.

In response to your question:
1- At first, I made my wiring looms for my new LED headlights according to the erWin diagram, but at first it was not clear to me what type of LED headlight I was going to install.

 viewtopic.php?p=577212#p577212

There are three types of LED headlights for Golf MK7.5:
- 8IT, the basic one, with only one control module per headlamp
- 8IX which is an improved version of the 8IT, with additional functions, but with the same set of internal LEDs as the 8IT.
- And finally the 8IU, the highest, and whose set of internal LEDs are ready for DLA (Dynamic Light Assist), in addition to the additional functions of the 8IX.
The last two have two control modules.

Depending on the type of LED headlights, 6, 7 or 8 wires are needed in the T14 connector.
Note: I am not sure, but I think it is also possible that the number of wires depends on the date of manufacture of the headlight.

A brief comment:
As a joke I say that there are three versions of the Golf mk7.
- The original. 2013 MY (MK7)
- The Face Lift. 2017 MY (MK7.5)
- And the Ass Lift of the Face Lift. 2019 MY (MK7.75)... those manufactured from August 2018 until the end of production (Europe).
A notable increase in improvements in each of them. My wife's Golf would be a MK7.75 ... 🤣 ... I love it.

2- After consulting with some minor gods, and subsequently having some religious conversations with Slavik (Madwarlock) 😄, I decided that I would buy the 8IU LED Headlights for the DLA possibility, despite having already updated the HBA (Light Assist basic) on my wife's Golf.

I received my new 8IU LED headlights  viewtopic.php?p=577598#p577598
That is, they are the highest but with only 6 pins on the T14 connectors. With these images you can know exactly how to manufacture your wiring looms in case of retrofitting 8IU LED headlights.

I finally left the wiring looms I made as they were. They will always allow me to install 8IT or 8IX headlights as well (if needed), because the two additional wires you are referring to are duplicate signal wires. N/A in my case.
Ground and +15, ... they are duplicated due to the internal construction of the type of LED headlight.

I keep having fun with this process which is slow due to the pandemic, and also due to a little covert fight I have with a demigod who thinks he is a god ...
I am eating him slowly, because he tastes very pleasant ... 🤭

Hello Cycle

Thanks your answer.

You and Slavik (Madwarlock) are my mentors, I have also spoken to him a lot, he has a lot of patience to help me  ....

I'm also going to try to assemble the 8IU optics, so my question about the cables you made.
But now with your clarification I already realized ....

I also have a Golf MK7.75 just like your wife, but mine is a 1.6Tdi Variant.

So, I apologize already, if you are bothered with doubts about some mods, Madwarlock too .... :P

I love the way you are taking your wife's car many steps ahead of the original.

A doubt, when you turn off the battery and then turn off the ECU, then when you turn on, do errors appear? Is it necessary to do anything before disconnecting?

Thanks

Thanks for your nice introduction.👍

You don't have to do anything special to remove the battery and subsequently any other unit, including the engine unit (ECU).
What you should NEVER, NEVER, NEVER do is remove the ECU without disconnecting the battery, the ECU may suffer irreparable damage. It would be catastrophic.

To remove the negative battery terminal you must first remove the connector from the battery monitor, loosen the nut, and remove the negative terminal.
To install the negative battery terminal proceed in the reverse order, being very important not to connect the battery monitor connector until after having tightened the terminal nut.
Then you take a ride with the car and the VCDS, and do an Autoscan clearing all the DTCs.

If you think you are going to ask a lot of questions about technical issues of your car, it is best to open a new personal thread in this section of the forum. It is not necessary to build a magnificent thread with spectacular images or things like that, a basic thread is enough.
In this way, if you request our help, everything will be clearer to detect what is happening in your car due to the information you post to ask for help and prior information.
So, if you ask for my help it is only necessary that you post in my thread the link to your question in your thread.

Things that everyone should understand is that this is my personal thread, it is not a technical support thread.
Nor do I allow to post images or videos in my thread, ... of any kind, to anyone, I only allow the links to. (I am not kidding)

No, I will not kidnap your topic with photos or videos or questions about my car, that would be a lack of respect on my part.
Sorry if I made you think I was going to do it

safm, don't take it personally, it's just a generic reminder for everyone, just that.🙏
I have very good reasons to do so.

For other types of communications, there are already those other "wonderful" social networks that are not a forum, in which many things are written but practically nobody shares anything interesting and that are used mainly through that magnificent device that is small, has rectangular shape, it's used with a single finger and whose name implies that the user is not 'smart'. ... hmm ... ah yeah, now I remember the device ... the smartphone.

I think it is impossible to choose a more perfect name for said device.🤣
