Coolant Temperature Sensor help

Hi can anyone please help 1.4 8v 1999
My temp gauge dont work and been on euro car parts and can only find 4 pin green round senser but mine is black and square but dont show apic.
Been on the net all night looking at pic of the Coolant Temperature Sensor to see if ive got it wrong.

And Hi to everyone this is my first post as ive only had the car one day

These temperature sensors are best bought from your local vw dealer. They'll stock the correct part plus the quality is massively better than those sold anywhere else

I got a new one today but my temp gauge still dont work.
So i dont know if it my gauge or temp sensor.
