Polo Speedo Swap

Hello All,
I have a corroded board on a 1.6l petrol polo and managed to buy a donor cluster coming from a diesel model. Rev counter is obsiously different. Can I just swap the clocks and eeprom chip or do I have to replace the main processor as well?
