It's not for turning over

I've been having some problems where it would stall at any speed 30 - 70, just totally cut out.
I travel about 40 miles a day, I've tried timing it but it will do it once every 3 journeys.
Then it won't restart for between 5 and 60 mins.
Last week I changed the fuel filter thinking it could be fuel starvation and fuels filters are pretty cheap. So a good start.
Anyway on Saturday I decided to clean out the throttle body, done it before so it shouldn't be a problem.
Our drive is a nose down, not that steep but maybe a cause. I put in a load of throttle body cleaner and started up the car, it ran rough, white smoke. Switched it off and dumped another load of cleaner in.
Tried to start it, no start.
Give it some pedal, no start.
So I though it may be the fuel filter, so I checked for leaks, took it off and replaced it with another.
I checked the spark plugs thinking I had flooded the car, got a spark.
Pump is priming
Battery is OK.
I wondering if it possible to flood the exhaust and mess up the sensor.

Checked the temp sender? That can cause odd issues.

Has it been scanned with vcds?

Yep all scanned, no errors.

changed the fuel pump relay. No change.
disconnected the battery for an hour to reset. No change

ordered a new crankshaft sensor, possible?
Also thinking coil pack.
Temp sensor, but can I disconnect this and get a result?
Lambda sensor, I would like to disconnect this but it's a pain to get off.

does anyone know what the thing is that is under the hydralic fluid bottle that looks like it sends fuel from the pump to the injectors.
Left side of the engine compartment under the bracket. It has an injector type connector?

OK just done a VAGcom

16726 Camshaft position sensor - Signal too low - Intermittent
This could be because I disconnected and turned over the car.

16502/P0118/000280 - Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor (G62): Signal too High
Again could be because I disconnected and turned over the car.

Redone the vagcom, clear results. Turned it over again.

No errors.

OK first think I bought to fix the issue was the spark plugs. They turned up today.
Gave all the sockets etc a good clean and changed all the plugs.
It starts.
Next thing would of been the coil pack and leads which are due to be delivered.

Now it did do a major jerk when I accelerated in 5th from 40mph. It's done this before so the coil pack may be on it's way out as well.

2 of the leads look a little corroded on the coil pack side as well. Not cheap for quality leads.
