How much to repair this dent? Images included
Hi all,
I had a terrible incident today. I pulled out of a parking space and hit a wall which I didn’t see And I’ve posted a picture of the resulting damage. I’m paying for the wall separately outside of insurance, and I want a rough estimate of repair cost for this passenger door. Not had anything this bad before.

I'd say about £120 for the dent removal and another £200 for the paint job, if you shop around.
Someone keyed my R's C pillar (suspect our neighbour as the car was parked on the kerb adjacent to our drive (between my drive and our other (much nicer) neighbour's drive where she normally parks (but has no right to - usually partially blocking our drive in the process). I had quotes from £140 to £480. Went with the cheapest and they were great.

I'd say also between £300 and £400 from previous experience having my front wing and corner of front bumper repaired.

@Harrihealey02; unfortunately quite an expensive lesson learned but chalk it down to experience and move on. At least no one was injured, so IMHO that’s the most important thing.
Most people will have at least one such experience during their driving career - I have; I’d only been driving a couple of years and I reversed into a steel post concreted into the ground (no parking sensors or reversing cameras in the late 1970’s ). Fortunately for me, that was in the days before PCP’s and leasing so most young drivers drove old(er) cars (I did), so you either lived with the damage or repaired it yourself. I did the latter; some body filler, rattle cans and a new (chrome) rear bumper with the old bumper part exchanged against the new one. Repairs completed in a day and from memory it cost me around £30 all-in to do a half decent repair.
I part exchanged that car against my first ever brand new car, and the garage never commented on my DIY repairs!

That is the bonus to having an older car, you learn the most lessons in them Mind you older cars had better visibility so you could see everything easily. The reason why it cost so much is because when the metal door skin bent inwards, it leant over the crash bar and bent the metal outwards. Now if you look at it you can see the door skin it sticks out ever so slightly I got another quote of £1015 and £1930 for a replacement door!?

Could get a replacement door from a breakers or ebay for around £150, would leave extra money for new jeansHarrihealey02 wrote: ↑Tue Mar 30, 2021 12:32 am That is the bonus to having an older car, you learn the most lessons in them Mind you older cars had better visibility so you could see everything easily. Different franchises of chips away charge different amounts. My 2 local ones got quotes in when my Golf R got lightly keyed on my C pillar. One quoted £145 and the other quoted £425. Guess who got the job?Iamnotbarry wrote: ↑Fri Apr 02, 2021 9:59 am where are you based? google chips away, they are reasonably priced and will come to your house to fix the damage.
Not aware of chips away doing dent removal. Might need to get dent removal first and then go yo chips away or similar.
