85kw oil consupmtion

Post by Cro_vw »

I'm on 2 yrs service plan or 30 000 km. I know I should have changed my oil at 15k. Now is 20k on dash, but I have free servicing for 105.000 km or 5 years. So I save 200 eur for not servicing it at 15k. But I've checked oil in January, and it was low on stick, I topped up 700 ml, now in April I checked oil again and topped up 300 ml.
did you check oil between services? did you notice your oil level was low? When I called dealer and told them my oil is low, they told me its normal :|

Can't speak for the 1.0 115ps engine, but the 2.0 lump on our 2 GTI+ gave not used a drop of oil between services. We've had 12 new VAG cars (more TDIs than TSIs) and only one used oil between services. It spent its first 800 miles sat on the motorway. Glazed bores a likely cause, but it used a litre in its first 300 miles, another in its next 500 miles and then about a litre every 1000 miles.

If you run your car more than 1000 miles/1500km past the car's expectations of an oil change, you risk invalidating your warranty and the terms of your service pack. VW did relax the intervals for a short while due to COVID closing workshops.

If I understand you correctly, you've got a 5 year/105,000km service plan and are trying to stretch it out to the max. That should last 5 years OR 105000km, whichever comes sooner. If you're doing less than 21000km a year, the car should be going in for a service at the end of years 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5, you can't string it out indefinitely.to say 8 years because it'll take you that long to get to 105000km.

Losing less than a litre of oil in 10000miles or 15000km is perfectly acceptable for any car.

okay, first when I asked what is the service plan for this car, they said : First oil change in 2 years or 30 000 km whichever comes first. So I couldn't chose my service plans. I'll stick to that service plan because its free for me. I will not pay for any service.
And yeah so in 10 k I lost less then liter, and now again after 10k less then liter. If you say its acceptable then I'm fine. But still, I have 98' mercedes 1.4 petrol, not losing single drop of oil.
I was just concerned is there any problem, why is a brand new car using oil. If it get any worse I'll talk to stealer :D

I must admit I never check the oil levels.
If the warning light comes on, then I'll worry.
VAG engines do sometimes have horrible oil consumption though, our fleet of 2.0Tdi engines were bad, mine was around 1300 miles to every 1L.
Buying individual 1L bottles of oil got so expensive for the company that we bought a 200L drum of Millar oil instead.
