Armrest USB Ports
Armrest USB Ports
Hi Guys
I am new here, I was wondering if anyone has fitted the usb hub on the back of the armrest when they have fitted one? Sorry if this has been posted somwhere as I have had a search through and could only find posts on just fitting the armrest.
The question is mainly to do with the wiring is there a retro fit harness or has anyone made one for themselves? I have spoken to my local Tps and my local Vw dealer and they arent really sure what I need. I have access to the wiring diagrams i was just looking for the easiest option for installing them.
I have the part numbers for the Armrest trim, Usb Hub and Usb hub plug if anybody is interested
Thanks

Re: Armrest USB Ports
Do you mean an external hub that connects to the rear USB ports?
My vehicle already has USB at the rear but havent tried using an externder hub as yet, not sure if there would be sufficient power to drive more powerful devices.

Re: Armrest USB Ports
I am trying to work out how to power the rear usb ports for the armrest as my car didn't have a armrest fitted at the factory so I have retrofitted one and I wanted to add the rear usb ports to

How early is early?monkeyhanger wrote: ↑Fri Jul 16, 2021 2:29 pm For UK Market, the early ones with no GPF didn't have rear USBs.
My Gti is September 2020 and doesn't have USB in the back.
Does this mean I don't have a GPF?
Didn't have an armrest either, retrofitted it myself.
Re: Armrest USB Ports
When trying to find out the part number for the different trim for the back of the armrest that had the usb charger slot in it there was 2 part numbers one for release to late 2018 and one from then on not sure if that corresponds with when Gpfs where fitted

Pretty sure the armrest was an added extra for the GTI+.

There's your answer.
As for the GPF you probably do have it. Don't think there's too many out there without it, unless you got the car very early during its lifecycle.

@S_94 I’d go further and say that Andy’s car will have a GPF. Pretty certain VW fitted GPF’s to the Polo GTI as part of WLTP compliance from late 2018.

Re: Armrest USB Ports
Anything built prior to the mid-July shutdown didn't have a GPF. At that point VW had to get their WLTP compliance sorted. Anything built after that shutdown had a GPF. Cars were getting built in Sep/Oct and then held while the WLTP testing for multiple iterations of optioned cars. They got released in Nov if I remember rightly.SRGTD wrote: ↑Fri Jul 16, 2021 5:23 pm@S_94 I’d go further and say that Andy’s car will have a GPF. GTI+ always had an armrest, only the MY19s and on with GPFs got double USB on the back of the arm rest.
