Clueless and after some help 😏

Post by wiggy1978 »

Hi may I begin with being in that I am not a die hard fan of any car...I simply have one to get me to work and back etc...I AM a woman and yes I AM bloody clueless hence why I have joined in the hope of a little mystery 🤣
I bought a polo all seemed good until this morning! Peeing with rain and as it was overcast I noticed a very faint light on the dashboard flickering....not a clue what the light means but its a triangle with a exclamation mark in the middle with a arrow around it lol....even more mysterious is the fact that its still flickering when the engine is turned off?
Can anyone give some ideas on whats going on so I have half a clue when I take it to a garage so I don't look like a right idiot

Welcome to the forum :)

Is this the one?

If it is then it's the ESP (Electronic Stability Program) warning light. Section 3, page 14 in the owner's manual should give an explanation of all the warning lights and how they function.

By engine off do you mean engine off but ignition on (the click before you turn the key to start the engine where the dash lights come on and most go off again) or engine off and ignition off (no lights on the dash at all)?

No warning lights should be being displayed with the ignition off so I doubt there is anything wrong with the ESP system but that there is an electrical fault giving that bulb in the dash a constant power supply.

I'd take it to a garage you can trust or a local VW specialist. It seems there are a few in West Sussex after a quick google.
