Whiteness on Engine Oil Filler Cap

Post by Euler2 »

I have only driven my car once a week to supermarket since mid December, and that only involves a 5 minute drive each way.
When I serviced my car last week I noticed a small amount of white oil/moisture under the engine oil filler cap when removed.
There is and has not been any of the same in the sump when checking with the dipstick.
The coolant level has not dropped either.
There is no white smoke at exhaust.
My car passed it's MOT last week with an advisory about the front tyres.

My concern is the cylinder head gasket failure.

However I have seen other forums that mention not running a car upto temperature during cold weather constantly, can cause
moisture to form and not allowed it to burn off.

The oil was recently changed, but I noticed the same white froth again in the same place today.

Can anybody enlighten whether this is an issue or it maybe the cylinder head gasket ?

Take the car for a long drive so the engine oil can get up to temperature and all of these problems will go away. :)
