Gti+ LED headlights seem low

Anyone else have the auto adjusting LED headlights? The main beam seams pretty low and can't get it higher, dodgey at speed in dark, the full beam is great but can't use that with oncoming

Can the dealer raise them? Even though they won't want too..

My plus was also like this, couldn't see more than a cars length in front of me. Dealer adjusted them for me.
I think they made them too high, never mind.

Too high on the 'zero' setting is fine, as you can adjust them down using the 1/2/3 setting inside the car.
My wife's Sportage lights are too high on zero.

Led lights on the Polo don't have 1/2/3 adjustment, they're automatic self leveling.

in engine bay should be hidden adjusting bolt on each side but if you take it to dealer they should adjust height for you without any problem

I had the same problem on my Gti plus. Got the dealer to adjust them but now they are slightly too high!

While my car was in for the seatbelt fix I asked the dealer to bring my headlamps down a bit. I was told that they could not be adjusted as they were automatic and factory set, despite the fact that they had previously raised them for me!
If anyone can point out the adjusters on a photo I will do it myself unless there is a good reason not to.

Look for white 'bolts' on the headlights that look like they need an Allen key, but also have a philips screw head sunk in.
I'd attach a photo if I could figure out how here.
This is on non-LED cars, but I've seen posts on other VW forums that suggest the LED headlights have the same manual adjustment.
There's apparently seperate adjustment for dip/meain/left/right.
I only bothered adjusting dip.

Tweaked mine up a bit today. Here's a picture of said 6mm hex screw including recessed cross screwdriver slots. This is on a GTI+ with LED Headlights.

Using a 6mm Hex T-Bar I rotated both the N/S and O/S height screws an initial 180 degrees anti-clockwise to raise and will monitor the results.

Edit. It still felt a bit low after 180 degree turn on the height screws, a further 180 degree, so a full turn anti-clockwise in total on each headlamp height screw, and the beam pattern seems good after a road test.

Hi Roywolfey,

I take it you didn't adjust the Yaw at all (not required)?

Did half a turn do what you expected for height against a garage door or wall, or did you blindly just give it half a turn to see what happens?

Hi,

I can confirm that I made no adjustment to Yaw. Adjustments made with lights pointing towards a wall so I could watch the movement, with a subsequent road test on unlit country roads with opportunities to switch between low and high beam. As it transpires, half a turn still felt too low with a marked cut off line to the beam pattern and unlit road ahead, and with a full beam that felt like it was aimed downwards rather than ahead. I have subsequently raised the height another half turn (so a full turn in total on both) and it now appears to be much better, and not so high that it's affecting other drivers.

I raised my lights by a full turn. Stuck a post-it down by the hole and put a dash on it by permanent marker. Also put a dash on the screwdriver shaft, facing the post-it so I could accurately gauge a full turn either side, turning anticlockwise until the dashes lined up again.

I also had a post-it over the headlight amd traced the LED array pattern before, so I could see how much they rose by - looked to be just under 2mm.

Can't say that I noticed an appreciable increase in beam length. Hard to tell as my local roads are so well lit and so LEDs don't make the road ahead hugely brighter.
