THE AA - to tow or not to tow that is the question

ok cut a long sotry short the G needs to go to psd quicktime

local companies want 150 pounds to tow the car 77 miles to psd from my house

i signed up to the AA yesterday in the hope i can get the car towed by them, well they rekon i got to be 1/4 of a mile away from my home before it can go any where and also they will only tow it if their agent or local recommended garage cant fix the car (allow letting any 1 touch the car apart from psd)

so i was wondering if any 1 had any AA stories/ ideas as to how i can possibly use them to get the car to psd (as it aint drivable without filling the road with white smog)

its been downhill since day way i dont think i can fall any further so the craziest suggestions will probably become my reality

The AA will not have to tow you anywhere other than the nearest local garage that they support or your home if it is nearer or you have payed the extra service fee they may take you home if it is within reason.

London to Little Hampton is not within reason.

Your best bet would be to phone all of the flatbed companies that rent their towing services and find the cheapest one.

PSD aren't the only G40 tuning and repair specialists. Search around for some others that may be closer.

There is a lot of rumour stories about all of the compaines from rivals so don't be put off the likes of Jabba becuase someone said they are rubbish becuase they only ported half a charger. If that was really the case then why would someone not claim on the warranty and request some form of appolgy and written compensation?

Â£150 for 77 miles is very good. I had to pay Â£140 just to get ontime out to my car!

g40 specialists other than jabba n psd? they may say they are specialists but at the end of the day they still send their chargers to jabba n psd lol

useless AA im still gona try n blag it tomorrow n see wat happends

You have a G40 specialist based in Dartford

Get the car more than 20miles away or so then phone the AA up, and they'll tow you to wherever your destination might be.

That's only if you're in relay.

Look on ebay mate, there's plenty of cheap transport firms advertise on there.

PoloG40Racer, are you Hardcharging40 under a new guise?

There is a company called Race Power Motorsport on the Dartford industrial estate. This is the company I am using if this is the company that PoloG40Racer means.

I have heard many great things about AW Tracksport but I do not know any contacts there.

PM Hardcharging40. He knows his G40's.

It would seem like a good idea to try to get the car to PSD if it's them that's done the engine build etc. on your car, and they do come highly recommended. But do your own homework and make up your own mind.

I don't think Jabba are bad by any means - I just found that PSD were cheaper and still provided me with quality parts and workmanship. They're also continually developing the G40 engines and run G40s themselves, which is always nice to know.

Just to add, when it comes to getting a tow - get the car on its way down the road, and try to convince the AA man that it's a sick G-lader. If you're assertive enough about it (i.e. the charger's serviced at this place, under warranty etc.) they should give you a tow okay as your average mechanic won't be able to deal with it. Even tell him you've called the specialist because of the oil coming from the boost return valve, and they've told you not to drive the car.

It's a bit cheeky though...

certainly is (good advice i mean) the AA bloke can hardly drop you off at the nearest quickfit zoo as the chimps won't even know how to take the charger off let alone service it.

i reckon he will gladly take you to PSD.

Yes Quinny, and i do mean my very good mate Boaksey from Race Power.

In retrospect though, Jabbasport are actually lowering their rebuild and porting costs by quite alot, and they now use the latest in seals, apex seals and bearings etc, they even have had brand new input shaft collars custom made since they found these on normal G40 chargers being a contributing factor in seal popping.

Good thing Andy's sent mine there for a rebuild and R1.

He is going to extend the R1 manually then gas flow it. You probably know more about it than I do.

My intercooler is being built at the moment too. The Allard ones that fit in the standard location. Ooohhhhh, lokking forward to getting it back o the road.

Yes, Andy's porting and finishing of superchargers and headwork (for that matter) is second to none!

His charger has lasted really well during the racing, hasn't needed a rebuild for three meetings and on a 63mm pulley!!! I doubt non racing folk will understand why that is so important! Lets just say you'll never ever drive a G40 as hard as Andy's racer is driven so its a credit to the reliability of the Jabba rebuild and Andy's porting ability.

Yeah I know. I can imagine the strain a 63mm pulley can put on a charger.

His car won the super coupe cup two years straight didn't it?

I am really looking forward to what my car will achieve. Time spans are against me, March, the car must be road legal and driving!!!!

I am really looking forward to getting my hands on the suspension he has found, not his cup car suspension, something a little more road comfortable, I will keep my mouth shut until I get it though.
