Gearbox go poof

Well, my gearbox is just about dead, it started whining a couple of weeks ago and unfortunatly it didnt go away, it got worse

Ive been told by a freind (hes a mechanic) that the central shaft inside has come loose and/or been bent due to my wheels being too big. The wheels have apparently slowly bent the prop over time when cornering and it finally went the other week in the wet when i got some wheel spin round a sharp corner.

Anyone else had this problem/ know if its totally s**t
