Well i bought it! Driving a total of 7 hours to get there and back but it's worth it! As i said before it's an x reg, 64k, climate, fvwsh, 1 owner, silver, 3 door. Were a couple of marks on the bodywork but they're going to sort it our for me before i pick it up next week. They've also just serviced it and replaced the cambelt. Get 12 months warranty and 12 months vw assistance.

The alloys do have some corrosion on a couple but nothing major. It's just on the rims - can anyone suggest anywhere i can get this done (preferably somewhere close)?

Also the stereo is not the original - it's a mini disc one. Anyone know where i can get an original one from?

welcome to the club!! hope you enjoy it

the corrosion is easy to fix by a decent company, you might want to try ebay for the stereo, either that or a breakers? someone on here might have one though...

glad you found what you were looking for, post some pictures when you get a chance

I'd just buy that one mate. £40 is a good price at Buy it Now.

Not sure if they are all the same size as the Polo (I'm assuming they're universal but others will be able to help more I should think) but here's some I found. And you'd have to make sure they all have the security codes or be prepared to pay more money to get it!

So it doesn't matter if i buy a blaupunkt or a sony head unit - they'll still both work with the cd changer?

Is the corroding wheels a common problem?

I went to have a look at a gti the other week and some of the alloys on that were corroded quite bad.
