lowering
lowering
I’ve had many people tell me that if I want to lower my polo by more than 40mm I will need new springs and shocks. Also if I go any lower I will do damage to my wishbones. I wanna lower my polo about 40 to 50mm with some lowering springs, the wheels I’ve got on are 15''. Will lowering it by 50mm do any damage to my car and will I have to do any cutting to the bodywork to make the car drivable? My cars a 1997 polo 1.4cl….

Re: lowering
Nope - but it's not ideal to just use springs as the damping will be a bit weakEssex6N wrote:I’ve had many people tell me that if I want to lower my polo by more than 40mm I will need new springs and shocks.
nope again - can drop it 80m plus and not damage the wishbonesEssex6N wrote:Also if I go any lower I will do damage to my wishbones.
Nope but you will need to get your tracking done or it will cut tyres out real fastEssex6N wrote:I wanna lower my polo about 40 to 50mm with some lowering springs, the wheels I’ve got on are 15''. Will lowering it by 50mm do any damage to my car
Nope as long as your wheels are same width and ofset as std and you haven't overtyred it you will be fineEssex6N wrote:and will I have to do any cutting to the bodywork to make the car drivable? My cars a 1997 polo 1.4cl….

If it were my choice, I'de didn't buy any of these, I'de go for a FK, H&R, Koni, KW or Weitec set. Maybe costs more, but you'll be sure it won't rust like hell, and that you've purchased some good quality goods.
But from these 3 I'de go for the second option, why? Cuz I don't feel to good about the brands of the others, and the second one is brandless

Just read this thread so might be late, but ive got a set of g-max springs and shocks -50mm (its called the sport kit if you want to look it up) for sale, cost me £210 in january only done 7000 - 8000 miles, its a pretty good kit imo and the only reason im selling them is because of a coilover upgrade
£100 if you want them but would have to be collected from manchester or maybe i could meet you part way if youre not that far away?
pic in sig shows how low they are with 14" wheels
