rear badge...

how easy/difficult is it to change this for a black one? what is involved?

changing the front badge is pretty easy just got to remove the old one ... that housed and snap the black one in place...

its stuck on with double sided tape I believe, bit like the POLO text and engine size

Just removed mine was really simple, just grip it pulled of with some force, then take off any black sticky tape off, wash, clean and dry it well.

Make sure u line up the new badge before u stick it, give it some force then thats it job done......

this will always work.......

*park you car near where you have a power supply
*get mums old (or new

) hair-dryer
*heat up the badge area (particularly around the rubber seal.
*get some fishing line or anything similiar thats strong, and gently saw away at the old tacky glue holding the badge on
*job done!

If it's the VW Double sided tape, that stuff is STRONG, I stuck the GTi lettering on my engine cover then wanted to move it a bit, it isn't going anywhere

so is there nothing underneath the badge? so boot could be completely debadged with no hassle?

nothing underneath, same paint colour as car

BUT it will leave a slight circular indent... needs filling really

You tried T-CUT? the chrome plating is only a few microns thick. Get some T-CUT and rub quite hard, you will find the plastic is black underneath. If not, you can always remove it as specified, but this way might work for you.

Good idea............ save some cash

But wont work for the front its actual a metal cover on top of the vw sign, was quite surprised, when I spotted that...

LOL! this topic is going abit back to front at the moment

just to clear things up, the rear badge is all plastic and the front badge has a metal casing.
