16v Throttle Body Programming

Post by Steve-o »

Ok guys need your technical advice here..
As you may know, the grlfriend has a 97 1.4 16v (AFH engine) with an erratic idle. It only does it when warmed up, and is like it has a misfire. It's definitely not this though, as when you remove the air filter cover, you can see the throttle butterfly continuously 'flapping'..
So far i have replaced:-

Lambda Sensor
Yellow temp sensor
Throttle Body (brand new)

I'm kind of stuck for where to go next?? I understand the throttle body needs programming? Could anyone shed some light on how it's done, and what the settings should be? One of my Corrado buddies has VAGCOM, or if there is anyone local that would be willing to give it a go??

Cheers
Steve

Pass mate :-s

Mine behaves fine untill while its cold too. And then develops what I think is a misfire after driving for a bit (when I've come off the motorway on my way too/from work) but I assume mine is the leads or plugs.

Maybe its not - cos its not on yours (also driving a 97 16v).

I havent changed my throttle body, just cleaned it this weekend but did go over a seriously big bump which jarred everyone in my car, at high speed this weekend too - so I assume mine is due to something being loose. Perhaps the rotary arm thing. Who knows. Hope my garage boys can sort it tommorow.
