PLEASE PLEASE HELP: NEED ADVISE

Post by depz376 »

Hello everyone!

I know this is a really silly question but I would be really grateful if somebody can please help me.

I have a (S REG) polo 1.4 L

My MOT was done last month and it passed without any trouble.

However 2 days ago i went for a normal service and i was told that it is likely that my head gasket has gone.

When the guy opened the oil cap it was all cream inside. However the dipstick is not creamy yet.

The guy said i have to sort that out first before a service.

Well i have booked my car in for monday and the guy said he will fix everything.

The trouble im having now is tommorow i have to go to Heathrow airport to pick someone up and do you think that is a big risk to take the car there.

would anything happen? when i asked the guy if i could drive it, he said yep itz ok cause its just the begining but he said i have to sort it out straight away.

so if i go tommorow does dat mean i will get stuck or would it be ok? Ive never had any problems with the car but its worrying me now and i really need the car too.

Please someone reply!

thank you in advance

first of all:

white mayo on the oil cap doesn't mean much, it could be condensation. clean it off and keep an eye on it.

secondly:

There is no problem driving your car. Keep an eye on the coolant level once you get there, and have a look when you return.

should be fine. a compression test would help in determining if your HG has actually gone

I have a problem with my car too & a head gasket could be messed up amongst other possibilities (will hopefully get it sorted over the weekend...anyways....) As Dave said above check your coolant level and just double check you car is not overheating (current problem Im having) If it is then I was recommended not to drive the car.

Good Luck in sorting it out!
