For the drive shaft bolts? I tried a 40 but thats too small, the next size I have is a 45 and that's too big, so not wanting to go and buy a whole set for one correct size has any one got any idea please. It's a bit dirty to see but I am assuming they are the 6 spline jobbies and not something different(special to VW)?
Cheers
Jon

it's definately a M6 or M8 spline, fairly small really. (M10 is head bolts isn't it? or getting close to them anyway)
torx is WAAAAAAAAAAY out from what you want. it's got like 1/2 as many teeth...
mind you if you find you really, and i mean REALLY can't get the spline parts (upto and including borrowing them from us lot), or something goes ka-ka with your bolts (small bit of rounding out somehow, etc), you can get by with a torx, or even an allen bit wedged in "the right way"... i've had to undo a stubborn and damaged DS bolt that way before (not that i recommend it as common practice by any chalk)

Well I decided that the best thing was to leave them attached and move the lump around on my car creeper, best way after lifting the body off, so I can now do what I wanted. Blast the steering knuckle and repaint and then fit new shocks. Still working on cleaning the engine bay up, but fast running out of time. Going offshore again on Wednesday. That means I can get any photo's on a stick and post them up then.
Thanks for the advice anyway
