Just took my Passat ('98 R, 110k miles) in to look at a part-ex. Salesman looks at my passat, admires the front end and says "have you had a frontal accident, or the front replaced at all?" which on the one hand is a complement, but he didn't believe me when I said no.
Trouble is, the front of the car is the area that I spend a lot of attention, as it is always going to take the brunt of whatever is on the road. Whereas everywhere else gets a single coat of polish, the bonnet and bumper get two coats (sometimes three), and a rub over with clay every three months.
It's been in to have the odd stonechip removed too, that doesn't come cheap!
Basically I'm a bit miffed that dealers don't accept that some people respect their cars and look after them. If it had been just the front that was spotless, then you could understand the comment, but the whole car has been looked after.
Gits!
