Remote Central Locking

Post by h4r1s »

hi,

Just wanted to know if anyone has tried to fit oem remote central locking?

How hard could it be?

I'm thinking of doing this but need to know what parts i need and how much they would cost.

Thanks,

Haris

it is very easy. just buy the part from vagparts.com. i bought the golf mk3 version for about £100. but check yours car is compatible.

open the boot, unplug the wiring loom that goes into the central locking pump and plug it into the remote unit. then plug the remote unit into the pump and thats it.

takes 15mins max. and thats 10mins worth of making sure it is done right.:)

as above, very easy... you won't be able to fit the OEM remote system, as this is tied into the VAG alarm system, but you can fit an official Votex accessory to the car..

this gives you remote unlocking/locking of the car, indicators flashing once for unlock and twice for lock and the abilitiy to control the total closure function of the electric windows remotely from the keyfob (i.e. you can close/open the windows from the keyfob)

Great thread guys (and the original thread too). I've just recently bought a MKV Polo in 1.4 16V (75) guise. It has central locking and I only got one key with it. What I want to know is, was remote central locking an optional extra on the 16V 75bhp?
