help on... bonnet hood lifter

on ebay im noticing these bonnet hood lifters.. they are silver rods that lift your bonnet for you???

does anyone have one and are they usefull?? they arent to expensive and look neat, but how pratical are they?

Ive got them,,,,theyre just for show really but do look nice too,,,,,nice cheap and easy modification imo.
