How else can I help my Polo?

Post by Chally_Rai »

Hey,

Im changing my oil and oil filter tomorow....well am going to try....just wondering now if theres anything else I can do to keep her trim, and stop her from ageing, as she is quite old now (1993) and im clueless about cars, so is there any other servicing things I can do to get her in the best condition possible?

I bought her carpet matts :) and a nice tax disc holder and i got rid of all the $hitty stickers and sticker marks on the inside of the windscreen and shes getting new wheels :D im also filling her screenwah up lol

I need to get rid of a bit of rust...and dont really know how....but yeah im guna try that tomoro too...

but i dont really know what i can do for her under the bonnet to make her love me :D lol :D

The oil and filter is a good start. Even if you never do anything else, your car will thank you for regular oil changes. Whilst you're at it you could change the air filter as well.

If you don't know when it last had a good service, then most older cars will benefit from a new set of spark plugs, HT leads, rotor arm and distributor cap. That should help keep the ignition system happy.

Also, never underestimate the benefits of checking your tyres and tyre pressures every once in a while, to keep your Polo handling properly.

All nice simple jobs that anybody with half a clue or a Haynes manual could manage.

If it is injected put some cleaner into the petrol - it'll make a world of difference.
