The gearbox needs to be removed to gain access to the clutch. But is not actually inside the gear box but rather between the engine block and the gearbox.CymruPolo wrote:Slightly off topic question ... is the clutch inside the gearbox?
The reason I'm asking is I got my sachs clutch kit put in with the reconditioned gearbox and now I want to get my original gearbox back in (long story).
I used to work for LUK.
I made the ulta large tractor clutches!
LUK makes most of the aftermarket clutches for the UK market.
Buy a clutch from Euro car parts, or GSF chances are it'll be made by LUK.
Edit.
Sorry, forgot to add, theres not a lot in it.
LUK clutch should be cheaper.
But will be cheaper for the dealer to buy (they'll buy a lot of them so will make more money selling it to you!)
Just make sure you call ECP and GFS to ask for a price from then before you give the dealer the go-ahead.
It will be the same part, but much cheaper.
Also heres the link for Sachs
