TDI Sport 100 Clutch Pedal Problem

Hi All,

Has anyone else who owns a 9n TDI 100 Sport got this issue...

Occasionally i have almost no resistance on the Clutch pedal, and it bites just off the floor, but when you re-use it only seconds later it is back to normal, it is very random when it happens, but mostly only when the outside temp is pretty cold, my local dealer has sugested that my Clutch master cylinder is faulty, and may need replaced, does this sound feesable?

also, i am thinking of going much bigger on my wheels, at the moment it has the Std 15" alloys, i was thinking of 17" but looking around i have seen lots of 18" can the 18's be fitted without any rubbing?

i did see on polo9n.com they were using 8x18 et30

anyone else from Scotland with a 9n?

mine has been custom Remapped and is pushing out 150Bhp

and 250Lb/Ft torque.
which makes it loads of fun in the wet, it just wants to spin the wheels in EVERY gear

Hello Steve, welcome to the forum

The clutch master cylinder is a common VW/Audi fault. I'd suggest taking it to your dealer and getting it replaced ASAP before it fails completely.
Over the last month there has been a severe supply shortage but I believe they are slowly coming through to dealers now.

I wouldn't suggest using 18 inch wheels due to the practicality of it (rubbing, extremely poor ride etc). My advice is to stick with 17X7.5J maximum.

150bhp in a FWD TDi 9n, wowsers!

thanks for welcoming me, glad to finally find a "home"

you will laugh, but actually, no, there is no traction control, and the map is Very Aggressive, from 1800 Rpm, the fun starts, and usually wheels spin, hence the reason for wanting Big wheels..

So 18's will deffinatly rub then? as i don't wanna spoil it, as it's a Gem of a car

Yeah, my master cylinder went about a month and a half ago. Not fun as it's the one time the car's left me stranded at the side of the road. Definately get it replaced under warranty.

Who did your remap?

Ask for Jim, he is top class, and he will do it in under an hour, usually 10 mins, just downloads the new map onto your car from a Laptop, very cool like.

Good to have another 9N owner on here.

It's not definate that 18" wheels will rub, as nobody here has tried them. But looking at my 17"x7 wheels, I wouldn't want to go bigger! Doesn't really help you much though does it

There is at least one other 9N owner from Scotland, Polo-03.

looking at pics of moles car and seeing a few 9ns in the flesh, i would say 18s should be a doddle, providing you stick to moderate lowering (about 30 - 40mm with some coilovers) and a 7.5in width (215 tyres) but have you had experience with modded cars before? as a lot of people cant live with the hard ride and nervous moments over speedbumps. Best bet would be to get to a decent alloy specialist and trial fit some 18s.

IMO 18s would rock on a 9n and if you pick carefully and check your ETs you should be fine. PM me if you want more info.

Possible yes, doddle no.
If you can get 18"x7 wheels, then that's gonna help bigtime as having spoken to a lot of German owners, it's the width that cause the biggest problem, along with the size.

PM me if you want more info on 17" and lowering, as I've been there, done that.

makes all the differance when people are helping you and not slating you for trying something a little different, like attempting to put 18's on a polo

250lb's wow - did you have yours rolling roaded before you had it chipped?

I'd be interested to see what the output was stock. The way my TDi pulls there's got to be more than 100bhp and 177Ib's of torque.

Unfortunatly, we never got the chance to do a before run, but i would agree with you, it is most likely it was pushing out something like 115Bhp in stock form, but if you think stock pulls well, you will really want to have it re-mapped, as it pulls like nobody's buisness now, acceleration is totally awsome, the speedo goes up like a rev counter, i have genuinely had it past 130MPH whilst on an autobahn in germany, and it still wants to go,but my bottle went, and i backed off, as i did not want to blow a brand new engine, i am deffinatly considering a 6speed from something like a Golf 130 / 150, as i think that would help with the top end speed, as it is a little revvy....

as i really want to tint mine, and now i have seen how good it looks, for sure i want it done, just not sure about how the Police will look upon it?

Hey Steve. Nice going with the 150Bhp! I thought the 130 was fast but the 150 must be a totally different ride all together. Tints on a Polo look really cool especially if you have a three door. I saw a three door flat black 9n with positively blacked out windows and that looked the bizz. It would be nice to see some pics

as Polo-03 is flying the flag for Scotland at the moment

Mine is a 3dr Summer Blue one, i done a little photoshop of it, to see what tinted windows would look like, but when you see a real one done it looks so much better
