Why is my headunit not working in my 9n?!?!

Hello all, I connected up my 6x9s from my stealth shelf to my headunit the other day and I was driving along with ma music on pretty loud, everything working fine then it cut out no sound no power going to it not even turnin on. I've not blown the speakers, and I thought I'd cracked it when I found the fuse had gone, but I replaced that and it still doesnt work

I even tried connecting up my old headunit, and that doesnt work either. I tried the factory VW radio, and this is the only one that shows some sign of life, it turns on and asks for the security code but I dont no what it is.

Any1 got any suggestions on what is wrong with it?????
Would be much appreciated, its doin ma head with out music lol.

Take it it was the fuse in the back of the head unit you found had blown? The new one did blow as well did it?

No the fuse in the back of my headunit was fine, it was the fuse in the car that had gone thats why its really confusing me because I have replaced it and it still doesnt work.

Hmm maybe worth putting this in th ICE section to be honest.

Right so the other fuse that you did replace. Have you double checked that hasn't blown as well?

I don't know if there are any other related fuses or not.

Personally my only other thought is that you may have knackered the amp in the head unit.

See if you can dig out the security code for your standard head unit and see if that works.

Other possibly and it's going to sound patronising (apologies) but is the speaker plug plugged firmly in to the back of the head unit?

Yeh think i'll have 2 do that. Yeh I've checked the fuse a couple of times, I've put another one in see if it was a duff fuse but that dont work either. Nah thats ok m8, yeh I checked all the connections to the headunit and the speakers and they are all fine. I cant find the bloody security code, duno if you mite know? I read through the manual and it says to look at the serial number and the code number, I did that but theres jus 2 blank gaps :s

you might well have blown the amp in the head unit, but try and get any head unit to check for sound coming out. Not 100% sure (check with a pro) but if you have blown the headunit amp then running an external amp and using the preouts should bypass this. cheaper than a new head unit and better sound anyway.

Ignition power fuse has blown - im pretty sure of that. Its an engine with a spark on it in the fuse box - take a look

Try a 5amp lower fuse. It may sound stupid but the samething happened in a Golf as you, but it got sorted once we put a different size fuse. No harm trying it!
