How Much?

Post by M666 BJW »

I'm after some help on what my GTI is worth and am hoping you can give me some pointers on what to ask and what to expect to get for it. Unfortunately, i need to sell up as for some reason my insurance has risen by over £100 a year plus i am buying my first property and can't afford to give the car the attention it deserves.

It is a 51 plate red 3 door GTI. It is completly standard and from what i can tell has always been that way. It has 63,500 miles.
Full VW Service History
Tax until end of March 2008
Service and MOT are due in September/October time.
Cambelt, tensioner and water pump done at 44,000 miles.
All old MOT certificates and from what i know all receipts as well.
Gear linkage went and was fixed in January with VW parts.
Both front fog lamps have been replaced in December so no tarnished glass.
The roof aerial was replaced in December as well as the rubber was slightly damaged.
The interior door grab handles, both driver and passenger, have been replaced with new in December as they were wearing.
Still has the original GTI foot mats but as expected are slightly warn on drivers and partially worn on the passenger.
Everything is still in full working order.
Spare wheel never used and still has all tools associated with it.
No supermarket dents.

Only problems are the BBS alloys are corroded on all 4 wheels, some worse than others.
There are some stone chips on the front bumper and bonnet, nothing that can't be sprayed easily.
Plus where the exterior door handle recess is there is scratches; as in the previous owner has had rings on and didn't have the common sense to open the door without scratching it. Again, this looks like it can be aprayed and is not that obvious unless you look for it.

Sorry for the essay but i am hoping you can help me.

Sounds a good car.. :)

Should get a good price

I'd say about £4000-£4500 privately maybe a bit less trade in wise with that miles even though its average

Whats everyone else think ?

But at end of day its all about what someones willing to pay...

Has the Pedal Box been done mate ?

Are there was a recall on the Gti's for it breaking.

That is approx what i expected to get, so would probably advertise at £4500 at the moment.
From what i know the pedal box hasn't been done; i see nothing in the service book or a boot sticker. What was the specific problem with the box, i've not had a problem in the 6 months i've had it. From what i can tell its still on it's first gear box as well; all be it with new linkage.

Have found someone who is potentially happy to do a deal with me....£500 plus his 106 GTI which is in very top condition plus a little modified  Anybody know anything to look out for on these cars?
