after market side skirts help

Post by mk5coz »

has anyone fitted reiger side skirts to there gti and if so what parts are included in the fitting kit and how do they attach to the sills. the reason for asking is my sills are damaged and it is cheaper and easier to fit skirts than get the sills replaced.

I think he doesnt want to remove the original skirts *u cant* iI think he just wants to put the aftermarket skirts on over the top of the original...

And im not sure what my mates were... think they were abs plastic but im pretty sure you could glue fibre glass ones on with adhesive.

No you're right. The sideskirts on the GTi actually form part of the sill so you can't just remove them like a normal stuck on bodykit item.

How complicated is it removing the sills then? Mine are not in the best shape as the previous owner must have rested the jack on them and I would like to get them fixed up or replaced altogether.

The sills are part of the car...they form quite an important structural element of the vehicle...DO NOT remove them!

If they are in a bad way you may be able to get a new sill and have it welded/bonded to the car...but chances are you will just have to fill and holes and live with it...

There is a few dents on the sideskirts so they are not totally in a bad way but I would prefer them to be straight. Replacing the sills sounds like a big job.
