Hey guys, Thinking of getting a 9N GTi. I had the 1.2 version as my first car and recently bought a Civic Type R, which I love but I'm really missing my Polo. Just cant beat german quality and insurance is much cheaper too.
I just want to know if any of you know what the 0-60 times are for a APR chipped GTi. I know its about 200bhp which matches the Type R but I doubt it'll be as fast. Can anyone give me an answer to this question and how much of an improvements you get in real life?
Cheers people.
9N GTi
mine with the spec in my signature pushes out a modest 220 bhp and over 200 at the wheels, met with 270 ft/lb torque was seeing me to 60 in approximately 5.6 seconds at york raceway
as for a ctr, you will have no problems bettering one of them, as torque makes the car pull hard from just 2500 rpm meaning you can always make a quick getaway imn most gear situations
i have absolutely no problems keeping up with the likes of pre new shape imprezza wrx's and will scare the sti's by being roughly level

Cheers Jeff, that's pretty impressive, I'm just worried that if I get a GTi I will lose the power and speed of the Type R cos that will do 60 in 6.6 and standard GTi will do it in 8.2 so I wasn't sure whether it would go down to the 6's with just a chip.
If thats the case I'm laughing, I'll be keeping my eye out for a good GTi. Are you sure just chipping it will make sure that I'll be keeping up with a Type R?

yep. have a look on awesome gti's rolling road days and youll find my car on there, with "less than 20 bhp transmission loss"
and no, just a chip wont take it to that
i have the apr stage 1, pd160 intake and green filter, forge 007p milltek turbo back exhaust system including the downpipe and high flow cat
putting the power down is fine as long as its launched with the right traction and not too many revs, it will barely spin up either
you wont lose out from the ctr as turbo cars drive so so different to na ones too, with high amounts of grunt from very low down making them feel and pull well throughout the revs not just at the top

I've had mine on a Dyno Dynamics RR i.e. a proper dyno. 206.9bhp approx 186 at the wheels with a APR map, and green filter. Oh 230ft lbs of torque too.andy947 wrote:Less than 20bhp Transmission loss???
*********. . . .
Awesome's dyno is pretty well vented, so yes less than 20bhp loss is possible.
Re launching the car, from Jeff's description of his technique sounds spot on
