Just done some tyre research aswell to find that 205/45/15 size tyres are a rip off!!!!

Cheapest I managed to find is a dunlop tyre and there £70 a piece!!!

Anyone know of anywhere cheaper to get these size tyres?

Cheers

Depends on the Off set of the wheels

205/40 15's would be better esp if you have ABS

Err, not sure why anyone has said anything. But why don't you have 195/45/15 tyres all round? You'll easily get a 195 width tyre on an 8J wheel anyway, there's no need for bigger tyres on the rear.

Have a look at this. It's a bit of a read, but it shall enlighten you about everything regarding tyres and wheels.

I have a set of RH Cups, 7x15 all round for sale. £350. They will fit nicely without any rubbing. Look for my thread in the for sale section.

Are you sure this would work? a 195 tyre on a 8" width wheel? I fort that the tyre size HAD to be the same size as the wheel?

Still workin ma way through that tyre s**t! lol got sum good info though! Cheers

Guessin this is what ppl mean when they talk about the "stretched" look.

Is this road legal or have any effect on the wheel or tyre?

Sorry im so stupid when it comes to all this stuff!! Its ma 1st car and wanna make sure I get everything right! Thx for everyones help though

Yeah, a 195 should fit nicely on an 8J wheel without any problems.

Here's what it looks like:

Nice polo, (whos ever it is) lol.

Ok got the tyres sorted so what offset and other things (4x100, 4x108 etc) would you go for on the car

F*** I look like a right idiot wen it comes to rims lol. Can build a PC though! Good at that bit

Start with the std wheels

Measure the clearances

Find out the offset

Piece of paper calculator and a pencil

You cannot just buy wheels of completely diffferent dimensions and expect them to fit

Work it out only then you will learn something

If you wanna double check the calcs post em up

you will better and wiser for it and more importantly you will be way ahead of a lot of people who expect to be told what will and won't fit

Right the stud pattern is 4x100, any other PCD wont fit end of (ok you can fit porche wheels with an adapter plate big faff dont bother. )

the standard polo steels are ET43

my ATS cups on my polo are J7 ET20 with 175/50/15 (they are only 2 brands that make that size Hankook and Khumo.)
