Post by Gar »

are they hard to find? l live in the republic of ireland and would prob hav to import one.

what to look out for in them. ie problems

any performance handling opinions about the car?

a good one is very hard to find mate! best to look out for ones with good or full service history!
you've also gotta make sure that the supercharger has been well looked after, serviced and even rebuilt!
handling wise, they are very good from what I understand. being light and powerful, they certainly fly along!

They often crop up for sale, but you'll pay over 2k for a good one.

If the power is uprated (more than 150bhp) you'll want to watch out because essentially it's just a mk3 bodyshell which isn't that stiff. That can be sorted out though!

Check the chassis legs for cracking, and for general corrosion. The battery tray is a problematic area for rust. Also, the charger's history is a big point.

Other than that, try a search on the forum. You'll be surprised with what comes up

Check the other Polo forums, and the Pitstop Developments forum for more info.

sale

Post by ck6uk »

im thinking of selling mine if the price is right :P

well over 170 bhp and got the arb blocks solid top mounts konis all round and all strut braces so its solid round bends ;) 195/45/15's

looking for around 3k..

the main specs are:

ENGINE:
full rebuild and bore out to 1301cc @ 145000 miles ( currently reading 158000 )
ported head with 3 angle cut valves and matched to gt inlet and exhaust manifold
4 branch stainless steal manifold with full PSD exhaust system
full blend charger
PSD toothed belt conversion
stage 5 sns chip
PSD throttle body - de wedged
g60 injectors
gt inlet manifold
blow off valve mod
Replaced the following in my owner ship - blue temp sensor - black sensor - crank positioning sensor - ht leads - dizzy - coil pack - all boost pipes
metal head gasket
new petrol tank and fuel filter
PSD oil cooler kit
PSD CAM

RUNNING GEAR:
koni sport yellows with matched springs on a 60mm drop
gladerseite solid adjustable top mounts
gladerseite anti roll bar blocks
gladerseite rear axel bushes
G60 front brake discs and calipers with mintex pads
braided hoses all round
golf mk1 convertable BBS 15 RA's with black centres as standard also
spare 15 bbs ra silver wrapped in a new toyo spare
Front upper strut brace
Front lower strut brace
Rear upper strut brace ( not bolted in )
Group N engine mounts
New gear selector ball joint
powerflex bushes all round

INTERIOR:
Completley standard with small rip on rear bench - front seats have always been covered so in good condition
sony head unit with 4 speakers, an upgrade fron the original ones
momo gear knob

BAD points:
body work needs tidying up, spots of rust on the very bottom of the doors is the main problem
there is a small crack in windscreen - not an mot fail but i dont like it
the charger has a horrible peice of metal blocking it off instead of a nice shiny one

GOOD points:
the car is putting out a minimun of 175+ bhp ( i rolling roaded it when i bought it at 158 bhp and since then its had the head - cam - 4 branch system and gt inlet )

it actually gains on M3's till 3 digit numbers come into play

its actually good on petrol !!!!

the cars mechanically sound and theres absolutley nothing wrong with the setup

Things to do:
the car needs to be remapped then it will be sweet
car would benifit from a stand alone charger oil supply ( ive always wanted to do this mod )

im sure theres plenty ive missed out but let me know what you think so far
