Did VW think this wud make cash?

Post by iggy350 »

Ok I saw this polo driving around where i live and i thought they look like total prats for drving that. I actually thought I had been in an accident and these where the replacement panels they got from the scrappers.

today I search on google for the polo and hit the Wikipedia site and read up a little bit on the MK4 only to find that VW themselves created this frankenstein of a monster

you guys have probably seen this car already and know that VW made it themselves but i am shocked on how stupid VW could actually be. lol

Only 4000 were ever made and one drives around where I live and i like in a shed of a town lol

Thought I share my thoughts with u lol. Oh plus im bored at work so you guys'z are my friends for today hehe

Yep the Polo Herlequin. To me thay looked disasterous and personally wondered if the people driving these actually had any self respect for themselves! There's a few Micra's like that too, thats like making dog crap look in shame!

Theres always two which show up at Prept, which I must say don't look too bad. Others would differ from our opinion and love them a lot.

I can't believe some of you

Harlequins are wicked, I love their quirkyness, better than a boring black/white/blue/green/pink/purple/whatever generic colour Polo. I'd love to have one and do it up in my style, and change some people's perceptions of the car 8)

Pretty high spec level, too. Being an SE.

Also, Micra's aren't crap, they're decent little commuter cars, which are easy to park and easy to drive. Pretty nippy as well. I have one as a daily driver and it's great for the drive to work 8)

Iggy & Josh; what did I tell you lol.

Most people love em to bits and they have grown on me (teeney weeney bit) since I saw the two at Prept but they ain't standard whichs probably why. They defo get you noticed too 8)

I did see a Herlequin Golf once, didn't know if the owner tried copying the polo's or whether VW actually made em.

Well they were ideal for businesses that wanted their vehicles to get noticed. I remember one used to get parked with stickers all over it on a busy road round by me for promos/advertising.

They were built to be different, to get the driver noticed and the passers-by talking.

10 years later, it's still working. So were VW really stupid?

yea they must have been a little stupid cost after only selling 4000 and in the year or so of production they axed it so it must be a little silly to make that car, Unless they just had some excess panels and was just getting rid of them hehe

I wouldn't say it was silly. The main point of the car is to get people looking at it. The Harlequin Golf was sold in America, had a VR6 transplant, and was lowered nicely on Borbet T's.

Imagine a Polo Harlequin, lowered on some Steffan wheels like these:

That would get more photos, than the equivalent single colour Polo.[/url]
