clutch pedal problem on vw polo p reg 96
when the engine and gearbox is cold the clutch pedal feels soft when engaging and releasing it.when the engine is hot the clutch pedal feels slightly hard when releasing the clutch and bringing it to biting point.in 3rd 4th and 5th gears it feels slightly soft in engaging and disengagin clutch pedal.the clutch is cable driven and it is brand new.
what is the problem?

Unfortunatley it seems to be a price we pay for driving rhd cars - the gearbox is on the wrong side of the car! The cable has to do a weird S turn to do the job. The clutch mechanism itself is really simple - a cable attached to a pivoting arm which pushes a big bearing race onto the release plate fingers. If it's not the cable binding then that only leaves the release arm bearings needing greasing. I can't undstand why some Polos have feather light clutches and others are total dogs.

i made a bad mistake by using too much break CLEANER on the release bearing and the area around the release lever.i think i may have slightly degreased the area around the release lever.i assume this is the reason why the clutch is stiff when releasing clutch pedal.
