undo the alarm (horn shaped thing) from the car and have a good look at it. the key may be to turn the siren on or off. alternatively, look under the steering column area or generally hidden behind the dash for the little box of tricks that controls the alarm (more commonly known as the immobiliser
. It may have a key hole for it there.
But if you dont have the FOB for it it's a waste of time 'cuz you can't arm or disarm it anyway!

19 is used by the front window wipers (is that the correct word ??)
number 19 does set the fixed interval setting.
I changed it with the number 99 (golfmk2/mk3) and I do now enjoy a programable time setting of the wipers
There is a VAG box just above those relays, I'm sure that's whats connected to the wires in the front too. I'm sure I've broke something when I took it off.

Mines got a Moss alarm honker next to the washer tank as well, and a little LED by the screen heater switch... but that's had it's wires chopped at the light, and the cables pulled out at the honker. Don't know where the rest of the kit is. Perhaps they just went bad after a while (battery drain, going off at random etc)?? Think if we run a survey they may turn up to be quite common on old MkIIIs..
No key apart from the one I was given with the car (no key for the big yellow cast-iron steering lock, or locking fuel cap either - one of which can be operated with a house key and some jiggling, the other is just jammed open). Quite a mystery. Car runs fine..
Also found out today that the starter interlock is busted ie i can make the starter run with the engine going (found out by accident after stalling). Oops... o_O... well, the history seems clean and all, but maybe there was an attempted theft?
(HOW much for a new dizzy?!)
