New Boy engine help
I have recently bought a 1995 1.0 polo and want to do something to the engine. I thought about fitting an induction kit but i can't find any for a not fuel injected car. i was wondering if anyone could help? Thanks

Hello mate!
Welcome to the forum firstly!
the guys are right, its definitely an injection model, but easy mistake to make as it looks very similar to a carb! Single point injection!
Unfortunetly there isn't much in the way of tuning bits for this little engine and not many gains will occur from doing them. you can't buy an off the shelf induction kit for these, however, you can make them out of mk3 golf/vento parts and a universal cone filter. made a good noise and perhaps made the throttle a little more responsive, but in the winter (and some of the summer) its suffered badly from (sorry to bring this up to confuse more) Carb freeze!
and it turned into a pain in the backside! only overcome by pointing the hot air pipe at the cone filter! which defeats the object of it!
the only other thing i did was a cat back exhaust! made a decent noise and again, perhaps it was a bit more responsive, but it wasn't really noticeable!
Hope thats of some help! i have pics of the indcution kit somewhere if you need them!

there are however some cheaky little mods you can do to get a few bhp! the spi throttle body can be swapped for a late mk3 (2F) polo or early mk4(6n) 1.3spi and ecu or mk3 golf 1.4 spi, this makes a massive difference to engine responce and a gt cam to and it will make the 1 litre a little more bearable. the mods look totally stock too, so no-one would ever know! a far better choice of mod than slinging an induction kit and exhaust that pc plod will instantly pick up on if you ever get pulled over
