So how easy is this to acctually do then correct me if i am wrong please...!

G60 calipers an carriers(obviously)
G60 280mm discs(obviously)
G60 pads
So there is what i know i need, heres my question...:
1. Do you use original brake lines(or braided obv if was upgrading) i.e: do the polo ones fit or is it a set of Golf lines i need..?
2. Is there any additional Brackets, fitting kits, bolts, moddifications needed along the way

Re: Gti breaks to G60 (whats needed)
You dont need the calipers. The only thing needed is G60 Carriers and G60 Discs. The GTI pads and calipers are exactly the same. Therefore its just a straight switch as I did on mine
Re: Gti breaks to G60 (whats needed)
oh right, i have seen alot of people talking about different setups like that jusgt wondering if te piston on the caliper of the g60 is bigger than that of the gti one? the g60 one is a 54 mm bore piston i think, please do correct me if im wrong lol And did you use your standard bolts, brake hoses etc alex thanks

Re: Gti breaks to G60 (whats needed)
As with Alex, all I changed when I had my GTi was the carriers and discs.
Re: Gti breaks to G60 (whats needed)
well that sounds a bit easier than a whole set up ! do you find it much better with them ? and if you dont mind me asking what pads and discs do you both and have either of you have braided lines ? thnks lads your being a big help

Normal lines, and OE discs and pads bud. It makes a little difference, but they are more for looks than anything!

Re: Gti breaks to G60 (whats needed)
If the pads are the same and its just a larger disc size whats the point? surely a big brake conversion should have new callipers covering the whole of the width of the disc with more surface area of pad on the disc?? there will be no difference in stopping power if you are using the same pads and calipers????

Re: Gti breaks to G60 (whats needed)
The disc surface is in fact no bigger - its just a wider disk with a gap around the inside where the hub mounts are - thats why you can use the same pads

It will make no difference in stopping power at all then.

Re: Gti breaks to G60 (whats needed)
It makes a little as there is a wider disk, so due to centrifugal force and all that, you get slightly better braking as the disk itself is wider.

Re: Gti breaks to G60 (whats needed)
Hmmm, minimal for the money spent on it all, a really good set of pads, good quality fluid, and well bled system is best. Or just 4 pots lol

Re: Gti breaks to G60 (whats needed)
As said, its more of a look thing than performance
Re: Gti breaks to G60 (whats needed)
i can deffonatly see what you are both saying but i will be goin for a set of good mintex 1144's, frozen discs, braided lines through so i dont think that it will be that and my car weight is a bit lighter than standard due to me having a totally stripped out bucketed gti so with the added lightness should make a nice difference on track
with no brake fade i have bought the brake now so will put pictures when they arrive and fitted
cheers for the imput guys

Re: Gti breaks to G60 (whats needed)
G60 280mms are thinner than the GTi ones? They're 22mm whilst the GTis are 25mm
