Hello - and GT TDI info please!

Post by TomS »

Hi guys

I'm new to the forum. I currently own a 2004 Reflex Silver Lupo GTI but looking at the 1.9 GT Tdi Polo's. Any opinions, advice, warnings much appreciated. These looks really solid and obviously have a good engine.

Any owners on here? what mpg you getting?

Thanks in advance

Hi mate,

I'm new myself, only had my Polo for 2 days now and loving it :D Very solid cars, I previously had a mk4 1.8T and Octy VRS. Wanted something cheaper to run and I ended up finding a very nice example Polo 1.4 TDI. So far I can't fault it great cars and fantastic engines, I did 250miles the first day I had it which cost me about £20-25 not sure what MPG that works out but it is alot better than the 1.8T! Gook luck with your search! I've read great things about the GT version and they look sexy as!

Thanks,
K

Hi chap

Cheers for the response.... I know what you mean, I bet the octy was ncie but not so nice on the wallet.

The Lupo GTI is really quite economical to be honest, but I'm doing a fair commute to work so fancy some TDI mpg and really like the look of the GT TDI polo and the Lupo needs filling up every 240 miles (albeit only £25!)

Welcome to the forum mate :D !

I've got the GT, and love it. Its perfect for the sort of driving I do (mostly motorway). You get the power when you need it (if you know how to avoid the turbo lag!), and its really economical the rest of the time :P.

I usually average about 50-55mpg on my normal journey to work (20 mile of motorway at 70mph, and 5 mile normal roads). But on long journeys I can manage 60mpg easy if I stick to 70mph.

I drove a 1.0L Petrol Colt for a few days the other week, and lets just say I was REALLY glad to get my car back, makes you appreciate it a whole lot more after experiences like that

I got my GT about a month ago now and I'm absolutely loving it! I had a 1.4 CL for a year just as a run around and I can say that I respect torque a lot more now :D

I managed to find one with digital climate control which was an optional extra, depends how long you're prepaired to wait to find one with the exact spec you want.

They are great little cars.

Hi guys! cheers for the welcome.

I put a deposit down on a 54 plate blue GT today - drove it and was really taken with it! :D

Great torque, felt so solid and looks great. Be sad to see the Lupo go but more economy is much needed.

Good choice mate! I've had my GT a year now in reflex silver no regrets! I normally get around 45mpg on the journey to work but it's only short, I can easily get 50mpg+ on a longer run. The powers great in most gears, surprises most cars mid-range! :D

Thanks mate! Pick it up on Friday, really looking forward to it.

I have a 30 odd mile drive to work so I'm hoping to see 50 odd plus mpg..... with a steady right foot.

Cheers

Good work! 61mpg has been my best on a long run, that was about 50mph in 6th gear for ages though :) The torque is fantastic!
