New to UK Polos.net - My Polo
Im new to UK Polo's, but had my polo since June 08. Only recently started to mod due to cash problems. My Polo is a 1995 1.3cl in red, quite high milage but runs well.
The mods so far are...
Clear side repeaters and indicators
Black sunstrip across windscreen
Stubby arial
JBL 6x9's
Original VW polo alloys
Lowered 40mm on Spax springs
De-rear wiped
De-badged polo badge
New plates (plain) with porsche plate surround
Bump-strips removed
Brake calipers and drums painted red
Fitting a sub and amp tomorrow in a custom made boot build, and hopefully getting some ATS cups, Recaro seats and a K and N when i have more money.
Pictures to follow when i work out how to do it!

Sounds pretty fresh. Looking forward to the Photos.
On the alloys side. Just a quick note.
If you wanted to go lower on the ATS Cups, you can get 120 on the frot with coilovers, and 100 on the rear but with scrubbing. Running 165/50/15 would take away the scrubbing in the rear.

Re: New to UK Polos.net - My Polo
Here are the pics of my car so far...
Front - Nothing too different, just clear indicators, black sun-strip, new plates (old ones had cracked) and number plate surrounds from my Girlfriends Dads Porsche just to finish it off.

Sides - Lowered 40mm on Spax, not too low, bump-strips removed, clear side repeaters, calipers and drums painted red

Rear - Polo badge removed, rear wiper removed, stubby arial, new plate and rear suround

Sound System - New sub and amp - Never heard of the brand before, apparently a small british firm? Provides so much bass! Not amazing sound but does the job. Total cost of 35 pounds, bargain! Also JBL 6x9's

Quite impressed so far, thanks for looking!

Cheers for the comments..
The wheels came with it, were in a bit better condition when i got the car but i scuffed them badly through lack of concentration lol. But i tryed to keep them in as good condition as possible, just cleaned regulaly, cant really afford a refurb. I have seen some advertised on here before, im sure someone just wanted to get rid of them for like £50 before!
Paintwork is pretty shoddy tbh, mirrors have laquer missing along with the boot and the roof has a slight fade, but for a 95 i think its pretty damn good! Recently had front top and rear bottom replaced with jimmyboy-s's old ones before his 16v bumpers were fitted, so appearence was slightly enhanced and colour looked restored.
As for the bump-strips i was reluctant to remove them but the paintwork was fine underneath, was gonna re-fit them if it went wrong lol. Used loads of tar remover and white spirit to remove the glue, but getting them off was just done with hot water from a kettle and an old credit card! Took all day but was well worth it! Removing the rear wiper and polo badge also finished it nicely in my opinion.

I was in his astra when he crashed it other day haha.
Any best way to get rid of the bump strips?

Re: New to UK Polos.net - My Polo
Haha, i didn't know he had crashed it, has he done much damage? I heard he was after a polo too.
All i did to get the strips off was boil a kettle and then pour it over the bump-strips. just pour it over small sections at a time, about 30cm lengths and use the credit card to get between the strips and the body, taking care not to damage the paint. Take it slow to make sure you don't cause any damage and regularly pour hot boiling water over the part your doing. it took me about 2 hours to get them off, that was being dead careful. I was left with loads of glue on the paint so used some auto-glym and white-spirit to remove it. That was the longest bit, took about 4-5 hours to get it all off, again being really fussy making sure none was left. Theres a guide in the 'how to' section, i pretty much followed that apart from using the hair dryer. Pretty simple but looks dead good after.

Re: New to UK Polos.net - My Polo
Yeh i know where that is, nearly had a few crashes there myself, nasty road.
Put some pics up when you got them off
will look much better! If your lowering it i'd say go at least 60mm, i only got my springs cause i was in Halfords and they were the last set and had been priced up wrong, should have been 95 pounds and i got them for 30 haha! I can hardly tell mines lower from looking at it, just handles a bit better.
You could probably get some springs for a bargain if you shop around, but go as low as possible, you will only want to go lower if not. My cars only cost me about 300 pounds to do everything so far and thats being dead fussy like cost of brake caliper paint, tar remover etc...
