O2 sensor

Hey guys is the o2 sensor on a 2006 GTI the same as on any other sort of VW? Just so I know what else to keep my eyes open to on ebay, or does someone have a part number for that sensor?

get a bosch one otherwise they dont work right and come with a plug you have to build , get one from a parts place non vw and make shure it is bosch! How come its gone anyhow??

thanks mate so are the bosch ones a generic one or something? not sure yet mechanic is going to be looking at it just we know the fault code is the o2 sensor or wiring so was looking at finding a cheaper option then the official vw one

I'm not too sure about changing to a Bosch probe, VAG do tend to stick with NGK ones made in Japan - they market them as N?K - forgotten the actual name but it can be found on the NGK website. I checked up on prices for the "S1" probe when I needed to get one a few years ago, and when you take into consideration delivery costs, it was just slightly cheaper to buy from VAG - and I did do a lot of searching for the proper type/make completely built up with lead, grommet and connector - ie identical to the one removed from the car.

bosch ones are the best and never cause problems or through up codes compare the price of one to a vw one buy which ever is cheaper! Always fitted bosch never had a problem !

Why not get one from your local VW dealer, that way you will get the correct assembly - surely that even if it means posting out to you, will be cheaper and safer than buying from UK.

rum4mo mate the difference in price was around $100 for ebay etc vs $300 plus from the stealers. Also ended up being even better there was also an exhaust leak but the code that was being thrown was not a normal exhaust leak code, so mechanic fixes the leak first and what do u know the code has dissappeared and fingers crossed not to return.

That price differance is crazy, I wonder what game VAG are up to. Have you priced the correct assembly from somewhere like www.lambdapower.co.uk they sell NGK ones - same as VAG use and Bosch. There does always seem to be the chance that an exhaust leak will cause a fault code to be logged, but it usually turns out to be a sensor failure, in the case of my wife's Polo 1.4 16V, the heating circuit starting to fail caused a few intermittant fault codes to be logged, then a few weeks later the fault was on all the time.
